Rafael Diaz Ceballos Boy creates ‘Cheeseburger’ about Jorge, a hardworking chef that strives for quality. What happens when passion for food blurs the lines of what’s right?

‘Cheeseburger’, AKA Hamburguesa con Queso, definitely strikes a chord for what has been going on in my life recently. Work takes over your personal life and your routine, and you forgot about the things you want to do. Why was I in a rush to start adulting in the first place? Only to find out that the problems and questions only got bigger.

The story follows Jorge, a restaurant manager, whom I can definitely relate with. His attention to detail in his kitchen, his need to bring the quality that a restaurant needs is still an admirable quality even when being hard ass. I can also definitely relate to how his at-work mindset sometimes bleeds over to at-home life, which makes relaxing tough.

Honestly, watching someone be so passionate about a burger is a little fucking crazy (don’t get me wrong I love burgers). The two main characters in ‘Cheeseburger’ challenge the passion I’ve mentioned, and depicts a true fork in the road for both Jorge and Daniela. Our heart is left with Daniela, concerned with what is happening to her and Jorge, while protecting herself against Jorge’s fury from his hard days at work. Jorge may be the only one left on his side. Is working too hard causing him to miss out on the important things and flip out over the small things? Is he too swallowed up in his own pride to fix it?
